FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic
Records) suggests that we restructure displays in our
catalog databases to reflect the conceptual structure of
information resources, creating catalogs that will
better serve the needs of library users. Martha Rice
Sanders from the HELIN consortium in Rhode Island
and Mary Wu from Roger Williams University,
Bristol, RI, describe some of the challenges of
FRBRizing the Shakespeare collection in the HELIN
catalog in Rhode Island. While computer algorithms
can help, grouping existing bibliographic records
under appropriate work records requires establishing
work authority records, and only human intervention
will ensure accuracy. NETSL is the program sponsor.
