Our response to patrons’ requests for reading
suggestions can inspire or discourage active use of our
libraries. Three Massachusetts public librarians,
Leanne Ellis from Wakefield, Kathy Leahy from
Hingham, and Jill Erikson from Falmouth, suggest
ways library workers can expand their knowledge of
titles and readers advisory resources, refine their skills
in determining reader preferences, and become more
effective in recommending new titles to library users.
