Information Technology Section (ITS)
A Brief History
The Information Technology Section officially became a section in 1996. This
came about as a result of the merging of the NEMICRO and Media sections of NELA.
Library technology issues, respective to each of these sessions, made apparent
the need to merge since the focus of each group began to blend.
We are excited
about our future in the 21st century. This
brochure is designed to familiarize you with our goals and invite you to join
us in this effort.
We Are:
- Members of NELA who are involved in, and interested in, computer hardware
and software, and library media issues.
- Academic, public, school, and special librarians who work with computer
and/or media technologies in our respective institutions.
- Librarians interested in keeping abreast of technology as it impacts on
our professional lives.
- Librarians interested in updating our skills in these areas.
Our Goals Are:
- To provide a forum for our members to network and discuss library technology
issues.
- To provide workshops and training at various sites in New England.
- To act as a clearinghouse for library technology issues.
- To provide opportunities to preview emerging technologies.
