SPRING CLEANING: Even though we are just about to enter spring it is not too early to think about fall. When you are going through all that stuff you've accumulated over the winter, remember the Silent Auction we will have at the Fall Conference. Want to know more about this new opportunity to recycle your old stuff? Here is the word from Janice Wilbur, Past President and NELA Conference Committee member herself We will be running a silent auction this year at NELA in Manchester and would like to ask members to begin thinking about items they can donate. So… hit those closets, bookshelves, etc. and please keep us in mind for the silent auction at NELA Annual, Oct. 19-21 in Manchester, NH. More info to come. And don't forget to save this date on your calendar. SEEKING NOMINATIONS: NELA is looking for a few good leaders. If you know someone who would like to get more involved with NELA, or maybe that someone is you, then please send us some names. We especially need nominations for Junior Director, Vice President, and Secretary. You don't know what that involves? Contact Janice Wilbur (jwilbur@assumption.edu) and she'll give you all the details. You'll find the nominating committee here http://nelib.org/committees.htm. New England Library Support Staff Association (NELSSA): Are you a NELA member who has been looking for an opportunity to become more involved? There is a need for officers on the NELSSA section committee. NELSSA members serve on established NELA committees and plan programs of interest to its membership. Take a look at some of the programs NELSSA has supported in the past (http://nelib.org/nelssa) that have benefited the large number of library paraprofessionals. Please contact Kris Jacobi, NELA President (president@nelib.org) for more information or to let us know of your interest to serve. The New England Library Leadership Symposium (NELLS), scheduled for July 28 through August 1, 2008, has extended its application deadline to March 14. This valuable and enjoyable symposium, held every two years, was created by NELA to foster the mentoring and development of leaders for state and regional library associations.
