NELA Partners with the Sustainable Libraries Initiative

The New England Library Association (NELA) is proud to partner with the Sustainable Libraries Initiative (SLI) to advance sustainability in libraries throughout New England.

Together, NELA and SLI are committed to equipping library professionals with the knowledge, resources, and connections needed to create resilient libraries and thriving communities. This partnership reflects our shared belief that libraries play a vital role in addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges while serving as trusted leaders within their communities.

About the Sustainable Libraries Initiative

The Sustainable Libraries Initiative is a nonprofit organization that empowers libraries to become leaders in sustainability. Through professional development, practical resources, and the Sustainable Library Certification Program, SLI helps libraries incorporate sustainable practices into every aspect of their work.

Using the Triple Bottom Line framework—environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic feasibility—SLI supports libraries in creating meaningful, lasting impact for their organizations and the communities they serve.
